Sheridan is currently seeking a Manager, Alumni Relations who assumes a pivotal role in advancing Sheridan's mission by strengthening relationships with alumni and enhancing philanthropic support. This position requires strategic vision, leadership, and a deep commitment to fostering lifelong connections with our alumni community. 

They will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy aligned with Sheridan's relationship building and fundraising goals, leading initiatives to enhance alumni relations and involvement, cultivating collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, overseeing alumni outreach programs encompassing web and social media strategies, communication plans, alumni stewardship, and events. driving growth in an active alumni volunteer program and achieving targets for increasing affinity partner revenue and maintaining an accurate alumni database. 

This position requires exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to fostering lifelong connections with our alumni community while driving philanthropic support of Sheridan.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Designing, orchestrating, and executing multifaceted strategies that deeply engage alumni with the organization, encompassing innovative outreach programs, immersive events, targeted communications, and exclusive engagement opportunities.
  • Cultivating enduring relationships with alumni by understanding their needs, aspirations, and drivers, crafting initiatives that resonate to bolster participation rates and support.
  • Propelling the growth of the organization's alumni network through proactive identification and outreach across diverse channels, including leveraging social media dynamics, crafting impactful email campaigns, and orchestrating captivating alumni events and initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Manager, Advancement Communications, on the design and implementation of comprehensive marketing and communications strategies specifically tailored to engage alumni and strengthen their connection with the organization.
  • Contributing compelling content for alumni newsletters, social media posts, website updates, and alumni success stories to effectively communicate the organization's achievements, events, and opportunities to alumni.
  • Overseeing the maintenance and management of the alumni database, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality in compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
  • Coordinating data entry tasks and ensure timely updates to alumni records, including contact information, employment details, event attendance, and engagement preferences.
  • Leading the expansion of our affinity program with TD, leveraging alumni networks and relationships to drive participation and revenue generation.
  • Demonstrating effective leadership by providing guidance, support, and supervision to a team of staff, students, and volunteers, overseeing recruitment, training, coaching, work allocation, and performance management.
  • Supporting an annual giving strategy by actively providing accurate data analysis and identifying high-value alumni prospects to Advancement colleagues.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

You have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with an ability to engage and present to diverse audiences and communities. 

You bring exceptional project management skills and enjoy balancing many different tasks with an ability to prioritize multiple projects while staying organized and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Your networking, negotiation and mediation skills allow you to effectively deal with external stakeholders, volunteers, faculty, and staff.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications: 

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Corporate Communications, Business Administration, Public Administration, Liberal Arts, or related field of study. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a marketing, consumer relations role including experience working with Volunteers and Boards of Directors (Equivalency will be considered).
  • Experience in a post-secondary or large non-profit organization environment would be an asset.
  • Ability to lead, manage and delegate to staff and volunteers.
  • Budgeting experience
  • Experience working with a database, web, and social media applications (Instagram, Twitter, Linked In, Google+)
  • Mastery of computer software applications (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge and experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
